Who we are: Vans of Hope, LLC (“VOH,” “we,” “us,” “our”)
Scope: This Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on vansofhope.com. It is separate from our Privacy Policy.
• Cookies are small files stored on your device by your browser.
• Similar technologies include pixels, tags, SDKs, local storage, and device identifiers.
We use these to keep your account session, operate the cart/checkout, prevent fraud, measure site usage, and (if enabled) support advertising/retargeting.
• Strictly Necessary (cannot be switched off): security, load balancing, login, shopping cart, checkout.
• Functional: preferences (e.g., remembering selections).
• Analytics: measuring visits and performance (e.g., Google Analytics 4).
• Advertising (optional): ad measurement/retargeting (e.g., Meta Pixel). If enabled, this may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under certain U.S. state laws.
We do not sell personal information. If we enable Advertising cookies, that may constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We honor opt-out requests and recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required.
• Cookie Preferences: Use the “Cookie Preferences” link in our footer to accept/decline categories anytime.
• Browser controls: You can block/delete cookies in your browser settings.
• California: Use our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link or Cookie Preferences. We honor recognized GPC signals where required.
• EEA/UK visitors: We will not set non-essential cookies unless you opt in; you may withdraw consent anytime via Cookie Preferences. Pre-ticked boxes are not used.
A. Strictly Necessary / Security & Checkout
• WordPress authentication: wordpress_[hash], wordpress_logged_in_[hash] (login/session).
• WooCommerce (cart/checkout): woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_* (cart state/session).
• Stripe (fraud prevention/checkout): __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid and related session cookies placed during payment flows.
B. Functional (site preferences)
• Examples: banner dismissal, locale/language, saved inputs (varies by plugins/theme).
C. Analytics
• Google Analytics 4 (GA4): _ga (distinguishes users; up to ~2 years), _ga_* (session tracking).
D. Advertising (only if enabled)
• Meta (Facebook) Pixel: _fbp (first-party cookie storing a unique ID; typical lifetime ≈ 3 months).
Retention: Actual lifetimes depend on vendor defaults and your browser/device settings.
When you log in, strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in and let WooCommerce/Booked manage cart and booking state; these cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
Legal bases: Strictly necessary cookies rely on legitimate interests (site operation); all other cookies rely on consent under GDPR/ePrivacy rules.
Consent quality: Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous, and revocable; pre-ticked boxes are invalid under EU case law.
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our cookies or legal requirements. We’ll update the Effective Date and, if material, provide a banner or other notice.
